Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Two year old vomiting for about two weeks, no fever, started out only vomiting during the night after she would go to bed and now in the evenings. Doctor prescribed and anti-biotic. She stopped throwing up for about two days and now it is back and worse than ever. Doctor ran a CBC and ordered a stomach x-ray it they were normal. Anyone have an idea on what this could be?
Hi, tahnk you for posting your query here. Forom what you ve described, it seems like your child has GERD (reflux). they tend to vomit when going to bed or after a heavy meal. My advice would be to give smaller meals, a little more frequently, avoid chocolate/tea/coffee which increase reflux. To make her walk around a bit after her meals, not immediately lie down. keep her bed reclining at a 30 degree angle (you could put some blocks under her head-end side of the bed). Ask your doctor about starting domperidone which helps reflux. ondansetron half hour before food will help the vomiting. Hope this helps you, take care. Regards, Dr. Vaishnavi
