Suggest Treatment For Persistent Vomiting In Children
10 year old niece has sudden onset of vomiting all day and a couple of hours after it had begun her hand went tingling and then numb then stiff to appearance. She is still continuing to vomit and I m giving her water but she won t take anything else. Any ideas?
Vomiting causes the loss of electrolytes and fluid.
Though the water would replace the fluid, it would not replace the electrolytes that she is losing. Electrolyte and fluid loss can lead to abnormal sensations such as numbness and tingling.
She needs to take small amount of fluid at a time. If she takes too much, it may stimulate vomiting. After taking small amounts for an hour, this can be increased once it is tolerated.
It would be best to use either pedialyte or a dilute sports drink.
I hope this helps
