Suggest Treatment For Pinched Nerve Pain In The Neck Radiating To The Shoulders

I have a pinched nerve in my neck that radiates through my right shoulder. Its been 2 weeks now from pain scale of 8 to a 3, now I have very limited strength on my right side upper body. My grip is considerably weaker in my right hand versus the left. I am 43 years of age in excellent shape, I have been weight training for 11 years very healthy. Today while training after 2 weeks off, I noticed the weakness on my whole right side upper body. Any thoughts or remedies? Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is a typical neuropathic pain.
As of now you can take drugs like gabapentin which is quite effective for neuropathic pain.
If symptoms persist you can consult an orthopaedic and plan for an MRI scan.
In severe cases steroid injection to the spine will be a better option.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
