Suggest Treatment For Plantar Fasciitis Causing Sharp Pain Along The Foot

I have had plantar fasciitis for 9 months. An ultrsound revealed a tear measuring 15mm long 5mm wide and down to the bony point. I am in considerable pain and currently wearing a moon boot. It does not seem to be getting any better. I now have sharp pain running along lateral side of my foot. I also get tingling. I am concerned there is now nerve damage. What treatment is suitable

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the plantar fasciitis is a complex disorder affecting various level of functioning depending upon the involvement of underlying ligaments, nerves etc. Primary measures are:
- Heating pad application
- Local application of analgesic spray or ointment with Capsaicin, Diclofenac with or without linseed oil
- Proper analgesic with anti inflammatory properties such as Tramadol hydrochloride
- Assisted physiotherapy
- Wearing boot for support as guided by physiotherapist
- Control of blood sugar

In more resistant cases:
@ Laser therapy with ultrasonic waves
@ Interventional pain management with particular nerve blocks such as sural nerve or others
@ Fasciotomy in selected cases through open surgical approach as the last resort

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
