Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am awaiting a followup appointment with my ortho office- with their PA - I really want to see the surgeon - But hopefully after this appointment I will. This past January I had an xray of my heel with their office and there was mention of spur / plantar fasciitis . The PA recommended a boot to wear all the time - I work in a correctional facility and really was not to wear it there so I waited until a couple months to get one due to the extreme pain I was having and I have been trying to wear it most of the time at work and at home - I have had insurance personally made orthotics for flat feet and use them in my regular sneakers which I have changed a few times since January and I also wear a heal cushion in my sneakers when I am not wearing the boot. - The pain is not any better - I am wondering what I should be asking my PA at the ortho office in a couple of weeks - Thanks
Conventional methods of treatment including rest, icing the region along with pain killer is usually done. Stretching and strengthening exercises, physiotherapy should also be done to reduce the symptoms. If symptoms persist, steroid injection, extra corporeal shock wave therapy or surgery may be required.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
