Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, My sister experienced post partum psychosis. It was a tough experience and it lasted one year and half. She is doing well now and she has not been on drugs for six months. From time to times, she gets hallucinations and dellusions after waking up or when trying to sleep. That lasts few minutes to one hour and when she sleeps again she wakes up well. This occurs only when she tries to sleep or when she dreams. She feels that nightmare is real and she can t think that it is just a dream. Should we take her to a doctor?
First of all, she should not stop the medical treatment suddenly and she should have taken psychotherapy in the last one and a half year. Now,she should go ask a psychologist for medical treatment and psychological treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dr/Mustafa, Neurologist
