Suggest Treatment For Presence Of Blood In Urine

Blood in Urine Sunday & Monday two small clots passed easily. All clear Tue & Wed. Thursday again two small clots passed easily. Then clear a few hours later. Local clinic say no infection but prescribed antibiotics? Also recommends followup with my PCP for possible kidney issues. 1) should I bother with antiobiotics. 2) My PCP is 800 miles away, should I sit tight for a while or find a good local doc for kidney checks?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Blood in the urine may be due to
1. Urinary tract infection.
2. Cystitis.
3. Ureteric or renal calculi.
4. Glomerulonephritis.
5. Pyelonephritis etcetera.
Unless examination, through blood and urine tests it is difficult to say what it is. Drink plenty of water, use urine alkalizing agents like syrup citralka thrice a day. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
