Suggest Treatment For Prolonged Fever, Cough And Low Appetite In A Child
Hello doctor.. my 2.3 year old son is suffering from high fever 102/103 since the past 5 days, along with cough (for the first 3 days, cough was coming only with high fever, however since yesterday its continuous, Paed says his chest is clean, throat has no infection and its just a viral fever. arithromycin has been advised for 4-3-4 days combination, once a day. Shall i go ahead with the same ..need your advices as his appetite has gone down majorly and fever and cough is almost continuous. Kindly advise.
Please do continue the antibiotics suggested by your doctor. Fever will suppress the appetite and he can develop dehydration as well as it is common in fever or viral fever. Hence, hydration is a must!! If the fever continues to be of high grade. Blood tests will be needed to rule out the cause of fever. Kindly stay in touch with your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
