Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 9.5 month baby girl has had a temp over 100 for 2 days. Temp is now 101.4. It goes down with Tylenol or Motrin but comes back. She has really bad breath, isn t eating or drinking. She s still crying tears and making wet diapers. Very congested, especially when lying down. Should I take her to ER/urgent care?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of prolonged fever. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like infection of the gut, urinary tract infection, food poisoning, inflammation of the gut (colitis), food intolerance and various rare disorders of the gut. Need not to worry. You should give child proper rest and avoid giving any outside food. Give cough expectorants to child. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe loperamide , laxative , omeprazole and antacids . For now give your child fruits like banana and lot of fluid .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
