Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 47 years old, I have my period for 3 weeks, I have humana PPO . I went to a Gynecologist today and the recepcionist told me that humana ppo will not pay for a Gynecologist visit. I do not qualify for medicare or any medical governance help because I make money to pay my bills and I have a car. I did not have the money to see a gynecologist today. I am frustrated. I don t know what to do.
First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, the heavy menstrual bleeding needs to be worked up as there is a chance if having fibroids in the uterus that might be causing the pain. Plus there is no over the counter drug that can help without ultrasound.
You can try getting mefanamic acid and transamenic acid tablets to stop or decrease the flow of the bleeding. But getting ultrasound of the pelvis will help a lot.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
