Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my child was seen today and I told about his salt cravings, she stated that he had lots of protein in urine. I have to take another urine sample first thing for them to follow up. She also was taking blood to test for other things. She mentioned that she was concerned about what all these little symptoms could be and it could be a type of genetic disease I was wondering if you knew what she was speaking of? thanks concerned mom
Proteinuria like hers can be due to nephrotic syndrome and in this age group minimal change disease is a possibility but before labelling her that, 24 hours proteinuria estimation, ultrasound KUB as well as renal biopsy may be needed. Even if it's the case, it's very responsive to steroids therapy and will settle down.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
