Suggest Treatment For Pseudotumor Cerebri, Black Outs And Cysts Near Lower Spine

I have 3 cyst on my body one is on the left of my neck below my ear the muscle and has there for years. The doctor said it isn t a lymph node. I also have two on my lower back one on the right very close to the spine the other one on the left 2- 3 inches from the spine. you can not see them but you can feel them and they cause pain on my lower back and the one closes to my spine makes my leg hurt really bad. I was diagnosed a few ago with pseudo tumor cerebral, When I was diagnosed I had already lose a lot of vision, my optic nerve was huge, (doctor described it as the largest he had and will ever see) and was blacking out. They started me on meds that after one month of taken I became allergic to sulfa (deathly) and couldn t take any long. I then started take just a fluid pill BUT it didn t help at all. At that point I was getting better but at least I wasn t getting worst. Recently they decided they want me completely better not stay the same so I am now on a fluid and diet meds to see if losing weight will help. I have lost 22 pounds in the last 4-5 months, which is great but once I dropped the weight I found the cyst. Doctor said they have probably been there just don t know it because of the extra weight there. Do you think this is something to worry about? Do you think this could all tie together somehow?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you to get fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of the lymph node in neck. FNAC will determine the cause of lymph node enlargement. Pseudo tumor cerebri is a condition wherein the intra-cerebral pressure is raised, however, no tumor or growth is detected in brain. Enlarged optic nerve is probably due to pseudo tumor cerebri. I suggest you to consult a neurologist for this problem.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
