General & Family Physician, Dr. Taimoor's Response
Hi I have read your question and I understand your concern. If your mother has used topical and local treatments and she has got recurrence the option available is systemic steroids with immunosuppressive therapy like cyclsporin and mycophenolate mofetil. But since this is a prescription based medicine so it would be better to consult a dermatologist as he is the right person to male a decision on it. As for permanent solution the disease may get flared up following minimal trauma or due to no apparent cause any time or may be quiescent for years. In local medicines like siddha or ayurveda mostly steroids are use with improper dosing, for my patients I usually do not prefer these type of medications. I hope it might be of some help. If you have any query feel free to ask. Thank you Dr Taimur
