Hello, My name is Opal. My doctor has been treating me for Lupus since 2012. The past year or so I have a really foul smell coming from my nose. What on earth can cause this? Is this Lupus related? Second question. Last week, I broke out with a strange rash with blisters all across my chin. This has never happen before. Really concern:( Thank you so much for your precious time:) I m very sorry. I have no money to pay for your Doctors. Miss. Opal
Foul odour from nose commonly happens due to nasal congestion and fungal sinusitis. You are suggested to get clinically examined. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and clinical assessment. You may need antibiotics. Steam inhalation will effectively help.
However if it is not due to sinusitis you may be referred to a GP to rule out Phantosmia. Get treated. For rash and blisters you can take a course of doxycycline orally and apply ointments like metro gel in the area affected. Limit spicy, oily food. Avoid cosmetic make up. Frequently wash your pillows & towels in hot water.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
