Hello,
This is a complicated problem. Shingles can be very hard to treat. The valtrex really will not get rid of it but may help prevent post-herpetic neuralgia, which is a painful condition that can last for a year or more after the rash resolves.
Antibiotics can treat an infection if that has occurred and the steroids can decrease inflammation, but really do not get rid of the rash. The best you can do is take the medication that is prescribed, keep the area clean with gentle soap and water, avoid scratching or rubbing the area and see a doctor if it looking infected or getting more painful.
Also it would be good to get the shingles vaccine.
Regards
