Hi,

Lanacane is benzocaine gel for topical application. It will numb your skin for a while by blocking the nerve action and can provide relief that way but if you are suffering from an allergic reaction, it may not be enough.

You need to take systemic antihistamines to find relief from the itching and burning skin. Levocetrizine hydrochloride 10 mg (L Dio 1) taken once a day for 5 days or Fexofenadine Hydrochloride 180 mg (Allegra) once a day for 5 days can give you relief from the symptoms. You can continue with the topical application of Lanacane.

If you do not find relief in 5 days, you may need to go for blood tests and treatment according to the results. I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
