Suggest Treatment For Rashes On The Left Leg Caused By Shingles

I was diagnosed with shingles. Rash was only on the back of my left leg. Small silver dollar size area. Doctor cleared me a week ago. Said rash was scabbed over and I should be fine. Suddenly, I started having bad headaches for about a week. Then I noticed rash on my back. Can t see it well but this time it itches rather than painful. Could it be shingles again. Can it recurr again so soon?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to shingles. I recommend using acyclovir ointment for local application.

I also recommend using acyclovir tablets for oral use. In case of pain, you can use painkillers such as Ibuprofen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
