Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Itching Around Vulva And Rectum
Hi , I ve been itching around my vulva and around my rectum for about 2 months now. I went to the doctor about two weeks ago and they prescribed me with diflucan which only seemed to stop the itching internally . However , I m still itching in those areas and idk what to do. I m also having slight pain during sex so please help me understand what is going on.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Itching on the vulvar skin and around rectum is suggestive of skin infection or inflammation due to some skin problem. If the itching is inside the vagina and pain during sex is suggestive of reproductive tract infection. Is the itching accompanied by discharge? If yes, then you need to get the discharge examined to look for infection. In addition, an ultrasound abdomen also needs to be done to look for any evidence of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). You may visit your doctor for clinical assessment since, the symptoms have not still disappeared.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
