Suggest Treatment For Recurring UTI In An Elderly Person
My 72 yoa mother continues to have one UTI after another. this time she is also experiencing nausea and cant eat same foods she has always eaten. she is about to start third round of antibiotics in as many weeks, can it be something else besides standard UTI ? what else could cause these symptoms?
Urinary tract infections are very notorious and do not heal as easily in older individuals. If there is recurrent infections, it may mean a resistant form of infection, requiring larger doses of more potent antibiotics.
It could also be possible that there is a second focus of infection higher up in the urinary system which are more difficult to treat and is causing these symptoms.
