Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recurring UTI infections since 2-3 months.2 days ago,I gave a urine sample which had 12-14 pus cells.Next day,I gave morning urine sample which was totally red in colour but gave culture report negative.I am also having 99 fever persistently.Could it be a case of urinary tuberculosis ?Because last year I had suffered from lungs tuberculosis
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It appears that urine analysis report is showing pus cells, which is indicative of infection.
Since the culture report is negative and urine color you are describing is red, it is indicative of hemorrhage in the urinary tract. This could be due to ureteric calculi or carcinoma of urinary bladder.
Hence, you would need the following investigations to come to conclusion what could be the cause for it. 1. Urine routine examination and urine microscopy. 2. Urine culture and sensitivity. 3. Ultrasound scan of the abdomen. 4. Cystoscopy to visualize urethra and urinary bladder.
Kindly consult a urologist with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ashakiran S
