Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have very red tonsils, up until a few days ago, there was yellow exudate on them and my glands were up, a lot. I now have a yellow streak down the back of my throat behind my uvula. What is this? It hurts to swallow and my tonsils are still red and slightly swollen.
As per your query you have symptoms of red and swollen tonsils which seem to be due to tonsillitis/tonsil stones and yellow exudate is due to infection in tonsil area.
I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles on daily basis. You should take antibiotic Amoxicillin for 5 days in combination with anti-inflammatory medication.
Maintain complete oral hygiene and visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get throat swab test done and go for blood tests as well and start treatment after proper prescription. Avoid oily, sharp food and cold beverages. Drink plenty of fluids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
