Suggest Treatment For Red Knot On The Thigh Caused By An Injury
My husband hit his upper thigh on the edge of a table May 10th, it s almost July and the huge knot which is the size of a softball if not bigger has not gone away. It s red, and very warm to the touch. He won t go to the doctor. Is there anything to do for someone stubborn? He put ice on it and now puts heat on it. He walks with a limp but will not go to the doctor.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I have read your description and understand your concern. What problem your husband could be having is a vaculated cystic swelling which could have collection of blood or fluid material in it, following sustaining blunt injury on the thigh. Applying ice packs or heat may not decrease or get rid of such type of swellings. He needs to consult Surgeon for its assessment as it would require surgical exploration and drainage or its removal. It can be treated on outpatient basis under local anaesthesia as it is a minor surgical procedure. Kindly consult Surgeon at the earliest for its evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
