Emergency Medicine Specialist, Dr. Prathap's Response
Hi.. Partial sciatic nerve injury have good chance of recovery. in this scenario Things to do- 1)Use foot drop splint in the night. 2)Start physiotherapy in the day time to regain functional power of the muscle, to prevent muscle atrophy and to keep the join supple. 3) prevent pressure sores on the affected limb 4)DO nerve conduction study every 3 months for 2 yrs to see for signs of improvement, if improvement present then continue physiotherapy. 5) no improvement even after physiotherapy for 2 yrs then surgical intervention is required. Tendon transfer depending on the functional requirement, tendon transfer is done to regain some amount of function. Thank you
