Suggest Treatment For Redness On Abdomen And A Mass Underneath A Scar

my mother is currently being treated with antibiotics for diverticulitis. Right now she is currently on vacation and her stomach has become very red and hot to the touch. There is a fist -sized mass near her pubic bone underneath an old surgery scar. Her doc advised her to just continue with the antibiotics (which she has already been on for 2 weeks) and to come into the office when she returns home. Is there anything else she should be doing?

* redness over stomach & fist size pubic mass are at same site or different?
medically I understand different entity but in lay man terms what you
want to convey I have to be more precise .
* Mass seems incisional hernia or internal collection , requires Ultrasound of
the abdomen & pelvis with evaluation of any defect in abdomen layers .
* Along with antibiotics you can take analgesics as well, manage to get soft
stools at present by dietary modifications .
