Suggest Treatment For Ringworm Infection During Pregnancy
I m 25 weeks and six days pregnant, and have had ringworm for the last six months. It s now spreading to different parts of my body. Started on my neck and is getting bigger, its on my ring finger and spreading to my middle finger. And just today found a cookie sized spot on the back of my leg. And behind one ear also. My doctor prescribed lamisil oral tablets that seemed to work for a few days now things are drastically worse and spreading. Also a topical cream called Ketoconazole 2% that s not doing anything for the ringworm... Do i have any others options? I m miserable.... It seems to be strangely resistant
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Dermatophytosis, more commonly known as as ringworm, is a fungal infection of the skin. Ketoconazole cream is used to treat fungal infections. It is better to use topical cream for your infection, as systemic medications are to be avoided since you are pregnant. Kindly maintain good personal hygiene by following means, which would help to reduce the symptoms. 1. Avoid clothing that irritates the infected area 2. Wash bedding and clothes daily during an infection 3. Cleaning and drying your skin regularly Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
