Suggest Treatment For Scalp Psoriasis

Hi, I am suffering from scalp psoriasis since yearsi t is !mostly under control with use of momate cream however I have noticed severe hair fall along with irritated and smelly scalp since two months now. I was also suffering from ringworm around my inner thigh area since last year which is now under control. I am only confused that the scalp situation and hair fall is due to psoriasis or ringworm in my scalp cause I have never had such hair fall and scalp irritation before. Please help.

Hello,

You are suggested to visit ER, get physically examined & get a skin biopsy of your scalp done. Get treated at the earliest.

Wash your hair & scalp with Selsun shampoo (shampoos containing salicylic acid), apply medicated moisturizers immediately after the bath.

You can use topical corticosteroids under a dermatologist. They effectively reduce the inflammation and the plaque build up.

For ringworms take a course of Fluconazole orally. Apply topical antifungals and antifungal shampoos.

Do not share your clothes or bedding with anyone. Take vitamin A, B6, B12 supplements. Visit a dermatologist & get treated at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
