I have a sebaceous cyst on my back, my sister has drained it twice as it was becoming painful and it was self-draining all over my clothes and bed. Ive been on anti-biotics for 7 days and it doesn t seem to help. I want it removed. Who should I see? A derm or a GP?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
I understand your concern.
Sebaceous cyst what you are having appears that the drainage is done superficially and that is why it is getting infected repeatedly.
Also, antibiotics may not penetrate deeper into the tissues so that it would give you complete relief.
The best treatment indicated is by surgical excision of the cyst itself.
Kindly consult Surgeon in this regard for appropriate care and management.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
