Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Cramps While On Alesse Birth Control Pills
I ve been on the alesse birth control pill for a while now and about 1 year ago I noticed some pinching and cramps between periods. My gynocologist told me to take the pill for three months and then have my periods. It seemed to be okay at first but now I ve been having cramps for almost 2 weeks and am bleeding as well. What is happening? Is it normal?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Katie Lee's Response
However, usually, it gets better within 3-6 months when you started taking the medication.
If you still have same symptoms without any improvement even with such trial recommended by your gynecologist, you may want to change the brand of birth control pills to different brands or change to other options of contraceptions.
I suspect you already have ruled out other gynecologic conditions that may cause your symptoms such as vaginal/pelvic infection or ovarian or uterine structural problems such as fibroids or cysts can cause current symptoms.
If you have not ruled out those, you may want to do so before changing the treatment options.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
