Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Cramps While Taking Ibroprofen

Hi doctor, I will be 30 this year and over many many years I have suffered with severe period cramps which often affect my daily activities. I take ibroprofen for the pain but I still experience moderate and sometimes severe cramps. Would minigynon help in relieving my monthly period cramps and would my age be of any concern now that I m older and going on the pill? Thank you in advance, looking forward to your response. -female living in discomfort

Hello. I am Dr. Praveen and I will be answering your question today.

Sorry to hear about the pain you go through. Well, most patients find excellent relief with mefenamic acid+dicyclomine which comes as a combination pill taken twice a day starting from the first day of the period upto 4 days. It has a good analgesic effect and also relieves the spasm. Hope this gives you comfort and you need not continue to live as a 'female living in discomfort'. Cheer up !

Wishing you good health. Please feel free to drop in any more queries if need be.
Warm regards,
Dr Praveen Jeyapathy
