HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Acne is due to a combination of factors including: (1)excess production of sebum which is a waxy oily substance that is
(2)inflammation/irritation of the skin
(3)blockage of the hair follicles
(4)presence of a particular bacteria

It would be best to treat most or all of these factors.

The present guidelines say that it is best to start off with a medication called a topical retinoid along with medication to treat the bacteria (an antibacterial).

The retinoid would reduce inflammation and help to unblock the hair follicles. eg adalpene or tretinoin or tazorotene.
These would need to be prescribed by your doctor.

Benzoyl peroxide or a topical antibiotic like erythromycin or clindamycin cream can be added to the retiniod.

The benozoyl peroxide would be available over the counter.

I hope this helps
