Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was walking down the stairs until I missed a step and my foot turned to the left. I didn t hear and pop but, I felt a sharp pain unable to walk. I feel a pain just above the knuckle of my ankle. I ve been putting ice on it and I put a wrap over my ankle. Is there any idea of what this is? Thank you.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, Thanks for the query through health care magic . I understand your concern. The ankle injury can be in form of strain,/ sprain of the ligaments, muscle tendons, or bones involved in ankle joint. Rest to the part, Ice pack & anti inflammatory pill over the counter can be taken For home management. I would advise to get physically examined by your family physician. X ray of the ankle may be advised to exclude bone injury in form of fracture. Treatment would depend on the severity of injury. thanks.
