Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had excruciating pain in my right ankle 3 days now (Thanksgiving week). I thought I had a sprained ankle Have stayed in bed, and used a walker to hobble across hall to use bathroom. Frankly husband tired of helping me. (He works on his feet for 8 hrs daily away from home). Could this be gout instead of a sprain?
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Gout primarily affects big toe joint but its possible to have gout pain in your ankle but its rare. Since your pain has been present for 3 days, I believe you should get x-ray done of that ankle.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr Samuel Parmar
