Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My name is Cherlin Staples and I have severe physically nervousness and OCD with many irrational fears many of which of fears of certain numbers and dates on the calendar - I have seen Doctor Phil help many people - I know Dr. Frank Lawless could help me - but have looked up his fees and they are way out of my range - I have tried anti depressants and SSRI s without any success - tried counseling about 25 years ago but the counselor severely abused me emotionally and this made the OCD get worse - Right now I am taking (from a doctor) 4 mg of Xanax each day - and I may take 5 mg per day only a few days out of the year when I am extra stressed - my Mom said I was born calm - but I was burned when I was 4 months old with second and third degree burns on my face and hands - as a result of a wire shortage inmy parents house - please excuse any mistakes or typos as this print is very small -I know Dr. Lawless could help me - but we looked up his fees and they are way out of my range - PLEASE HELP ME - I WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET HELP WITH THE PHYSICALLY NERVOUSNESS AND THE FEARS - I ALSO HAVE ANOREXIA IN MY PAST - NEVER BINGED - JUST STOPPED EATING - MY WEIGHT IS NORMAL NOW - BUT I KEEP IT THAT WAY BY WALKING AND WATCHING WHAT I EAT -PLEASE HELP ME AS I HAVE EMAILED THE DR. PHIL SHOW SO MANY TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS -
Hi, Thanks for writing in. You seem to have had a number of anxiety related problems in the past, and had few unwanted experiences with their treatment. These disorders are hard to treat. Nevertheless, with sufficient expertise, they can atleast be controlled.
I suggest you visit a psychotherapist at this point in time. Once a therapeutic alliance is established, you will be able to feel the difference yourself.
Hope this helps, Dr A Rao
