Suggest Treatment For Severe Back And Chest Pain

I occasionally take Percocet for severe back pain. Whenever I do, I experience substernal chest pain. I have a history of left main coronary artery stenosis with CABG and multiple stents. Today, after taking a Percocet, I had chest pain. I took a nitro SL and the pain eased. But it came back a few minutes later. I took another nitro SL and the pain subsided again. Minutes later the pain returned and I took a third nitro. The pain has subsided again. While it is not unusual for Percocet to induce chest pain, I ve never had to take nitro three times as a result. Should I be concerned?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

In a few patients, it may cause chest pain, flushing, hives, itching, rash etc.

So better to take alternatives pain medication like tramadol or paracetamol with Gabapentin or pregabalin is useful.

Usually, opioids may elevate angina related pain. I think you've developed an allergy or respiratory depression.

Please consult your treating physician he will examine may advice alternate medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
