Suggest Treatment For Severe Back Pain And Hip Pain Along With Blood In Stool

I m a 35 yr old female. And work in a grocery store. While i was in the freezer unloading a pallet, one of my co workers took a pallet jack without paying attention to where he was going. Pushed the full pallet deeper in the freezer and pinned me between the pallet and some shelving. he then grabbed what he wanted and left without pulling the pallet off me. I eventually pushed a couple things out of my way and had to squeeze my way out cutting up my back. My work sent me to a Dr who did X rays and said I have no broken bones But I m still having bad back pain, hip pain, minor pain when breathing and now some blood when I use the bathroom. Can I still have other injuries or is it just muscles? Thank you, Melissa

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of being trapped and could come out squeezing the body causing the pain in the back and chest and also have blood in stool. Surely the problems caused you muscle strain which causes the pains as discussed by you.

Although the X-rays do not show any fractured bones the muscles and tendons are not seen on X-rays and thus needs proper treatment in the form of muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory medicines round the clock.May be a bed rest helps early recovery. Avoid any work that needs force or weight lifting.

Blood in stool may not be related to this and thus should be sought after by getting a per-rectal examination and ano-proctoscopy to know whether there are any hemorrhoids or other causes of bleeding and get treated accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
