Suggest Treatment For Severe Back Pain, Calf Muscle Cramps And Cervical Pain

My name is Parmod Juneja. I am 57 years old. I am having severe back pain and my Dr. Prescribed me Medrol 6 mg. I am also having cervical. After finising the course of medrol now he has presribed me nermax 75 SR for back pain and cervical pain and carnitor 500 for cramps in my calf muscle and Calpol 650 and Bio D3 strong. My question is as I am taking nervemax 75 SR and carnitor 500 for the past 1 month and he has further precribsed for another one and a half months. Do you think taking these medicine for long time will have side effects. I am worried. Please help me in replying.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
I have gone through your question and understand your concern. Firstly, you must know all medications have their own effects and side effects. There is no ideal drug, which have zero side effects and is totally effective. All the pain killers in heavy dose taken for a long period of time will jeopardize liver and kidney. Hence, it is always necessary to prescribe them with caution. When you have symptoms that need the amount of medication prescribed always monitor your liver and kidney health. Undergo liver profile and kidney profile once in 6 months to know your health.
Secondly, discuss with your doctor other modes of treatment like physiotherapy, chiropractic, ointments for local application to reduce pain and cut down the need of medications. Good luck. Hope your concern is answered. Thank You.
