Suggest Treatment For Severe Burning Sensation In The Toe
moderate to severe burning in toes, with occasional needle sensation in big toes, switching on occasion from one foot to another. Worse in horizontal position and when wearing socks. Occasional heel pain in left foot primarily in morning upon waking. I am moderate to heavy beer drinker however in good physical shape ( at gym 4/5 days week) and walk 5 k extra daily with dog. Have indication of mild fatty liver from blood test but sugar seems ok. 52 years old , 6 , 200 lbs but muscular upper torso from weigh training. Symptoms are worsening even after recent 5 week complete abstinence from all alcohol. (Non smoker) What treatment is possible?
You had burning sensation in foot more in horizontal position. It can be possible due to 2 conditions: 1) Lumbar spondylosis in which you will have low backache 2) B12 deficiency due to alcohol
If I am your treating physician I will go run set of test. Serum B12, MRI spine, serum calcium. There is no relation with fatty liver which common for this age. For now, consume low fat diet. Consume a diet rich in B12 and calcium. B12 supplementation after consulting physician.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Tata Lokesh Kumar, General Surgeon
