Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have severe chronic migraines, taking up more than 15 days out of the month. I have had migraines for 20 years and have seen several neurologists over the years. The most recent neurologist was not helping me at all, only doing the same thing as previous ones. My primary care Dr. Is trying to help and prescribed Stadol nasal spray and it works very well. I am worried about becoming addicted since I am using the spray sometimes daily. I have not gone more than two days without using the spray in approximately two months. I do not use the spray because I like the feeling...I actually hate it, the nausea and the taste is horrible. Can you give me some advice? Thank you.

Hi,
Stadolnasal spray is a Morphine type of synthetic pain reliever. Though nasal spray minimal quantity of medicine is effective, so it is preferred over other forms of the drug.
Yes if you take it more than prescribed dosage or when not required, there is a chance of getting addicted. So better to stick to the prescribed dose and try to adopt holistic methods to control the attacks.
Sometimes after some duration same disease may not be effective, you have to consult the prescriber for altered dosage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
