Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 1 month has had a hacking for over a week now severale people in the family have been sick with a bad cold. she has had a lot of runny nose too. the cough somtimes makes her gag and she throws up, there is also some weezing i am just getting worried that it is something other then the cold.
I think you should get her checked by paediatrician. The wheezing you hear might be a sign of pneumonia. She might need prescription meds and/or hospitalization.
For the moment, I suggest to give her
- paracetamol syrup at bedtime
- apply nasal saline spray
- apply vapour rub at bedtime at night to keep her airways open
- raise her head from shoulders and up to ease her breathing
- aerosol therapy can help.
Most important to get her checked by her paediatrician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
