Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough That Hurts While Breathing
I never had a cold, but I have a bad cough that s hard to get mucas out & hurts my head. Thought maybe acute bronchitis, but not sure. It hurts when I breathe in deep & try to cough the phlegm up. Hopefully just a viral thing that will go away on its own?
The following are few causes of your severe cough: 1) Viral upper respiratory infection 2) Acute bronchitis 3) Bronchiolitis 5) Pertussis 6) Non-asthmatic eosinophilic bronchitis 7) Lower respiratory infection either bacterial or viral 8) Pneumonia 9) Tuberculosis
Treatment always depends upon the cause. The following investigations may help to arrive at a specific diagnosis: 1) Chest X-ray 2) Sputum examination 3) Lung function tests if necessary
Please do consult a physician or a pulmonologist for appropriate treatment. Until then you may have the following treatment: 1) Fever if present, tab. Acetaminophen 650 mg every 6th hourly 2) Mucolytic syrups like Mucolite to be taken twice daily 3) Warm water gargles may be helpful 4) Antibiotic like Amoxicillin 500 mg thrice daily for 5 days
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
