My husband has Parkinsons disease and is on carbodopa/levadopa, selegiline hcl5mg, lasix 40 mg, pantoproloz 40mg , He was put on Valsartin 320mg and took the first dose this morning and he now has severe diarrhea. will this subside over time or should he stop this med. His Bp was 154/78 which is down from 187/110. email is YYYY@YYYY
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Since his symptoms started after taking valsartin, it may be caused by this drug.Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker used to treat high blood pressure /heart failure.Diarrhea happens to be one of the minor side effects of this drug.As his body gets used to the medicine these side effects may disappear. It may pose no problem. In the meantime, he may take oral rehydration salt and zinc tablets,Eat fruits like bananas. If symptoms become too severe and persistent, he may stop the drug and see the Doctor for evaluation. Hope this will help Best regards
