Suggest Treatment For Severe Foot Pain In A Child

My grandson is 21/2 years old and cries some times when his joint catches in his finger(usually his for finger or thumb) and he has to wait a few seconds to straighten his finger. Also, at times he will complain of his leg or his feet hurting. One thing that I m concerned that might be contributing to a possible problem is that he craves paper and cries when you take it from him. Any kind of paper from toilet paper to a cardboard box. Any ideas as to what to do?
