Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a foot pain .It is on my left foot. I have a sore spot between my big and next toe on the ball of my foot..When the pain hits it is a driving pain that radiates down through my foot between my big toe and next toe about one fourth inch back on top of foot . Some days I have several of these pains and then I might go several days and not have any .Also sometimes it wakes me up at night . I went to podiatrist on Monday and he said he had know idea what it could be .He did give me a cortezone shot in top of my foot and said if it didn t get better to come back in two weeks.I told him the shot was bad but nothing to compare what the pain is when it hits.Today while working it hit again and I begain to think it wasn t going to quit .this is really concerning me .
Noted your history about pain in the left foot between great and 2nd toes as you have explained well. The commonest causes I can think about are as follows: Tenosynovitis. Foreign body granuloma. Fascitis. This can be well diagnosed by the following: Consult another Doctor, preferably an Orthopedic Surgeon for second opinion. Warm hyper-tonic saline bath for the foot. An anti-inflammatory for about 7-10 days. Rest to the foot. Oral steroids sometimes help a lot and local shots may not be needed. All these will help you to get okay. Occasionally MRI of the area helps in proper diagnosis and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
