Hello,

Gout is an autoimmune disease where uric acid crystals deposit in the joint and that causes symptoms. As you are already diagnosed with it, you should be aware of the appropriate treatment. For that its always advisable to see a rheumatologist as they guide your best on the management of the disease.

Whenever a patient comes to me with such complains especially the pain, I suggest them pain relieving medicine like ibuprofen. Just taking ibuprofen won’t help as you are already taking Colcrys which is given in gout, for appropriate dose its better to see a rheumatologist and follow his advice on it. Corticosteroids also help in gout and as I said for correct dose see a rheumatologist. With all these medicines the disease is managed better.

Apart from this, dietary intake of foods that help in reducing uric acid levels and preventing deposition of uric acid crystals in the joints is suggested.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar,
