Hello,
Since you have a history of neck pain radiating to the shoulder, arm and also have
severe headache, you are suggested to get few investigations done. Get clinically examined by an orthopedics or Neurosurgeon, your symptoms can be indicative of
cervicogenic headache or degenerative changes at the joint and disk level in the mid-
cervical spine.
To detect the pathology causing you pain you can get X-ray and MRI done. At times myelography / CT scan is used as an alternative to MRI. To detect the cause of neck and
shoulder pain Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction velocity (NCV) are done. You can take NSAIDS, naproxen or combiflam, one SOS after food for relief. Take the help of a Physical therapist(physiotherapist).
Maintain a correct posture while sitting or standing, avoid sitting too long on PC or laptops. Avoid sedentary lifestyle and take food rich in iron, calcium, minerals and proteins. Your treatment (with medicine or surgery) will depend on the reports of the investigations obtained and your clinical condition.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
