I am so concerned about my 55 yr old husband. He has been on mitazapine for five years at least. Severe insomnia presented itself afte TMS treatment 1 year ago. The drug no longer helps him sleep n he takes 30 mg n also the highest legal dose of Zanex- and he can t stay asleep, he wakes after 2-3 hrs and ides restless all night thereafter. He has slurred speech, memory loss- ST... And he is having flashbacks to a home we used to live in n can t find things in current home as he looks in wrong cabinets etc. he thought our dog was a live who passed away 2013. He doesn t think anything will hep n sleep study results were negative.? Any thoughts? I think he is addicted to these drugs ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As the first line of management, you can try newer drugs like Zolpidem (Zolfresh) is the brand. Which is safe and quite effective.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
