Hi sir, Am Yamuna. Age 25. I had ASO titre positive. 1800 before 5. Years. Doctors suggested to take penicillin (penidure LA 12) injection for once in 21 days. I followed the same for four years. But after that also it didn t came down. So then I tried Ayurveda medicine for past 6months, now my ASO came down. But still I have severe joint pain, again went for blood test, the result was Aso normal but my ESR raised to 60.I don t know what to do. Since my marriage fixed within a month. Will it be cured. Pls help me to get correct treatment.

Hi,

- ASO titer is done to know whether you have rheumatic fever or not. Rheumatic fever has by far reduced its incidence. There are other conditions which can cause multiple joint pains and have high ASO titer and raised ESR. Hence you need a proper clinical evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon and relevant investigations to know the exact cause of joint pains. Any chronic condition can raise the ESR levels to high levels. MRI of most affected joint is better to be done. If possible a synovial biopsy helps to pinpoint the cause.

All these will definitely help to know the exact cause of your symptoms and thus get you the appropriate diagnosis. Proper diagnosis allows a specific treatment. Till then take a PPI like Omeprazole and an anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties. Also, check for thyroid, kidney and liver functions as you might have taken lots of treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
