Hello,

For severe kidney infection. Blood tests and urinalysis should be done. Good to know that your mothers kidney infection is better but she needs a follow up clinical examination and repeat investigation done to prevent any relapses. For infection on her bottom, she can continue to take the prescribed treatment with cortisone suppositories.

It looks like Intertrigo (intertriginous dermatitis) inflammation in the skin folds of the bottom. It is aggravated by heat, moisture, friction, a warm, moist environment that is ideal for fungal and bacterial growth. Intertrigo may get worsened by infection (candida). Application of topical steroid gel / ointment reduce inflammation in the area. If the area is also infected, an anti-fungal or antibiotic cream or ointment is effective. Sometimes you need an oral medication.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
