Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello doctor..my mother is 55 years old, peri menopausal. her problem is she has severe uneasiness in her legs. she is having difficulty to sleep at night. previously she was prescribed amitriptylline but she refused because of its side effects. we tried home remedy as well but never helped her...please help
As your mother is 55 and Perimenopausal. There will be hormonal changes happening in the body and some part of the muscles also will be weakened. Like the lower limbs and the core muscles.
Since medicines are tried and not happy with it, I think she should try doing general exercises along with exercises related to core stability and also lower limb Strengthening.
Exercises play a different role and make a person feel energetic most time due to secretions of hormones like endorphins.
In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most cases of a female after 55 are such. But engaging them in regular exercises always helps them to divert mind and gain some benefits out of it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
