Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Ribs After Injury

I fell flat on my back on stairs about 3 weeks ago. I am having really bad pain on 2 of my rib bones which also has a knot on each rib. The knots are very tender to touch. When I sneeze, cough or take a deep breath it hurts really bad. What could this be?

Hello
I'm sorry to hear about your condition. As you described the history of trauma there might be the possibility injury to spine or fracture of the rib, and maybe the healing fracture is felt like a knot. You need to 1stly get the X-ray chest(AP) done so that we can look for any injury to bony rib cage and investigation like CT/MRI will depend on your symptoms and X-ray report. In any case even if it fracture or rib or just musculoskeletal pain you need to take rest on straight and soft bed, Take analgesic Tab. Diclofenac 50mg TDS and some cough medication if it bothers you lot. Also consult an orthopedics doctor in your area, he will better help you with further treatment if required (eg. physiotherapy).
Hope this helps you.
Regards.
